Farming is complex. Everyone’s situation is different. “One-size-fits-all” products and programs don’t cut it anymore. You want flexibility and you want choices. That’s why it’s important to carefully review all of your options. One way to do this is by studying all the fall harvest data from all the seed companies you are considering for future purchases.
When choosing products for your operation, be sure to partner with companies that will provide reliable yield and agronomic data. Also, hybrid and variety decisions should be based on data from at least 20 test locations collected over a number of growing seasons. This ensures that observed differences are genetic and not the result of environment, harvest maturity or sampling error. Keep in mind that you should select a total value package that may include herbicide or pest resistance, yield, standability, disease resistance and other important traits.
I’ve enclosed some data from your area that might be helpful as you begin planning for 2013 planting. I’ll be in touch with you soon to help you review this and other information. Remember, focus on value and income potential when making your planting decisions and know that DuPont Pioneer will be with you every step of the way to provide the best products, services and information available on the market today.
In the meantime, I’d also encourage you to visit the DuPont Pioneer website for more product and performance information. Also visit www.pioneer.com/yield for local plot performance data.
